The Montsec Astronomical Park is preparing to host the 10th edition of the Astronomy Festival from Thursday, October 31st to Sunday, November 3rd. The festival is set to blend science with tourism, offering an attractive program under the theme "Tourism of the Stars." This event promises to appeal to audiences of all ages, featuring a diverse array of both daytime and nighttime activities.

Engaging Visitors with a New Tourism Concept

The Astronomy Festival at Montsec aims to make science accessible to both young and old through this novel tourism format. The festival's director, Salvador J. Ribas, highlighted the success and positive reception of the event in its ten-year history, emphasizing collaborations in art, photography, and heritage days, marking a new addition to this year's offerings.

A Journey through the Stars

For four days, attendees will get the rare opportunity to explore the vast night sky through the park's telescopes. The festival features a rich program that includes experiments, workshops, guided tours, and concerts, all set against the breathtaking Montsec sky. Organized with the support of the Town Council of Àger, the Regional Council of Noguera, the Lleida Provincial Council, and the Geoparc Orígens, the event aims to transform the way people engage with science and tourism.

Highlighted Events for All Ages

"Project New Worlds" - Friday, November 1st

This initiative, supported by the Vértices platform with artists Jo Milne and Tono Carbajo, alongside astrophysicist Kike Herrero, offers a comprehensive package of activities. Participants can enjoy the "Searching for New Worlds" experience, with guided visits to the exhibition and a nocturnal special "Exoterritories."

Special visits are planned at 11:00 AM with afternoon tours scheduled at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM.

Special Night Experience "Autumn Sky" - October 31st, November 1st, and November 2nd

This unique nocturnal visit allows guests to marvel at the autumn sky, experiencing the planetarium dome's opening, a spectacle exclusive to Montsec. During this two-hour session, participants can enjoy live planetarium sessions and telescope observations.

"Experiments with Science" by Dani Jiménez - Saturday, November 2nd

Television host Dani Jiménez will conduct a lively workshop designed for both adults and children, aiming to bring science closer to all participants. The session also includes a rocket launch workshop, offered in three sessions: 4:00 PM, 4:15 PM, and 6:00 PM.

Music Under the Stars with Bru - Saturday, November 2nd

The indie-pop concert "The Universe Inside Me" will take place in the Montsec Planetarium. Featuring Catalan singer BRU, the concert conveys powerful local accents and enjoys accompaniment from musicians Julián Alexandre Rodríguez and Arnau Portero.

Two performances will be held at 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM, followed by an observation session.

Parallel Event: 'Iron: Forges, Blacksmiths, and Ironworks' - Saturday, November 2nd

The Town Council of Àger will host this event from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, organized by the Arnau Mir de Tost Foundation, featuring a day dedicated to the history and craft of metalwork.

Daytime Family Experience "Journey through the Solar System" - Sunday, November 3rd

Aimed at families with children up to 12 years old, this activity includes a planetarium session and solar observation, completed by a sundial-making workshop. The sole session lasts for two hours, starting at 11:00 AM.
